Timelapse Export

Turn your drawing process into a video. The timelapse export feature replays your sketch from the first stroke to the final result, so you can share how your artwork came together.

How It Works

T-Sketch records the order in which you created every object on the canvas — strokes, shapes, lines, text, images, and symbols. When you export a timelapse, the app renders a video that shows each object appearing one by one in the order it was drawn, building up to the final picture.

Objects appear as complete strokes (not drawn point-by-point), which keeps the video clean and the export fast.

Getting Started

  1. Open the Main Menu (hamburger icon, top-left).
  2. Select Export Timelapse.
  3. Configure the video settings (see below).
  4. Click Generate Timelapse.
  5. Wait for the rendering to complete — you can watch the progress bar and cancel at any time.
  6. When finished, review the stats, set a filename, and click Download.

Configuration Options

View

Choose what area of the canvas to capture:

  • Current View — captures exactly what is visible on your screen right now.
  • Full Scene — automatically frames all content on the canvas, regardless of your current zoom or scroll position.

Layers

Select which layers to include in the timelapse. Objects on unselected layers will not appear in the video. This is useful when you want to show the process for a specific part of your drawing.

Duration

Set the total length of the video, from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. A shorter duration means objects appear faster; a longer duration gives each stroke more screen time.

Hold Final Frame

Add extra time at the end of the video where the completed drawing stays on screen. This ranges from 0 to 5 seconds (0 by default). It gives viewers a moment to appreciate the finished result before the video ends.

Frame Rate

Choose between 30 fps (default) and 60 fps. A higher frame rate produces smoother video but results in a larger file.

Format

FormatCompatibilityTransparent Background
MP4 (default)Plays everywhere — phones, computers, social mediaNo
WebMSupported in most modern browsers and video editorsYes

Background

By default, the video includes your canvas background color. If you switch the format to WebM, you can set the background to Transparent. This produces a video with an alpha channel, which is useful for overlaying your timelapse on top of other content in a video editor.

The transparent background option is not available for MP4, because the MP4 format does not support transparency.

During Rendering

While the timelapse is being generated, you will see a progress bar showing:

  • The current frame number out of the total (e.g., Frame 120 / 450)
  • Time elapsed
  • Estimated time remaining

You can cancel at any time if you need to change settings or stop the export.

Downloading the Video

Once rendering is complete, you will see a summary with the video resolution, total frames, and file size. You can customize the filename (it defaults to your sketch name) before clicking Download.

On iPad and mobile devices, the download button opens the system share sheet, so you can save the video to Files, share it via AirDrop, or send it through any app.

Tips

  • For social media, MP4 at 30 fps with a duration of 15–30 seconds works well.
  • For video editing or compositing, use WebM with transparent background so you can layer the timelapse over other footage.
  • Use Hold Final Frame to give viewers 2–3 seconds to see the finished drawing before the video ends.
  • If you only want to show the process for certain layers, deselect the others in the configuration step.
  • The video resolution defaults to 1920px wide. For Full Scene view, the height is calculated from the aspect ratio of your content.
